As we we all know, Sugpon is now a sister town of Makati. The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by our Municipal Mayor Fernando Quiton and Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay Jr. last September 27, 2011 at the Makati City Hall.

Here's an excerpt from the report posted on the Official Website of San Jose, Camarines Sur (one of the nine municipalities included in the simultaneous signing):

While the twinning enables the partner LGU’s to implement various developmental and equally beneficial programs and projects, San Jose will benefit more from the sisterhood.

Donation of books and multicab, provision of scholarship grants at the university of Makati to indigent but equally deserving students, aid and assistance during calamity, provision of training programs to local officials and on-the-job observation tour at the city of Makati to share its best practices, are only some of the benefits that LGU of San Jose will get from the sisterhood, Mayor Chavez said.

Mayor Binay also said during the ceremony that if approved by the Commission on Audit, the city government will allocate 500 million pesos from its annual budget to be divided among its almost 200 sister towns/cities.

In this regard, it is safe to say that Sugpon will also be getting the same benefits. If yes, we would like to put emphasis on the following:

- donation of books
- provision of scholarship grants at the university of Makati to indigent but equally deserving students
- aid and assistance during calamity
- Php500M divided by 200 municipalities(do the math)
