The annual town fiesta was started in the 1940s or 50s (we did a research but no one could give us the exact year, some say it's 1949. If you happen to have a reliable source who has the information, please message us). For over three decades now, the town fiesta has always been celebrated on the 18th and 19th of March.
The field demonstration was then a main attraction. If you were born in the 60s, 70s or 80s, and attended grade school at Sugpon Central School, you must have mastered dancing the "Calisthenics"! Remember those steps?

Over the years, sports such as basketball was added and has become an invitational event. And then came the fundraising King and Queen contest. The crowning of the winners which we often call the "coronation night" use to be a very glamorous occasion. It was probably the only time of the year where you get to see men in their formal attires and newly-shined shoes and lovely ladies appropriately dressed-up. Don't we just miss the "auditorium" days? Today, everything has become so casual that you can see people going on stage wearing tsinelas. What happened?
Nonetheless, fiesta is still one of the most awaited time of the year in this town. We may have seen all the colorful and grandiose festivities around the Philippines and abroad, but there's no denying that the celebration back home is different and is something that we always want to attend.
